Listening in London

It answers your phone. Every call, every time. You have a bludge.

Bludge picks up every call to your number in a natural British voice, asks the questions you would ask, and books the job or takes the message. And when an enquiry comes in through your website, it rings that person back within seconds. You set it up yourself in twenty minutes.

  • Says it's an AI in the first sentence of every call.
  • Only calls inside UK calling hours, never on a Sunday or a bank holiday.

What happens when it answers

Nobody reaches your voicemail.

Put your Bludge number on your website and it answers every call, qualifies the caller with the questions you'd ask, and ends each call in one of three places.

  • Booked

A caller who qualifies gets a time in your calendar before they hang up. The appointment and the transcript are in your CRM before you've looked at your phone.

  • Called back

If they'd rather talk to you, or it's after hours, it takes their name, number and what they need, and emails you the lot with the transcript. You ring back knowing what the call is about.

  • Sorted

A supplier, a wrong number or someone after a job gets a polite answer and a note to you, not your qualifying questions. Those are kept for the people who rang about work.

It says it's an AI in the first sentence, as on every call. Answered calls are included in every plan, and a call that books is one fee, not two. See pricing

Why speed wins

Five minutes decides it.

100×

the odds of reaching a lead when the first call goes out inside five minutes rather than thirty. An odds ratio, not a plain likelihood.

21×

the odds of qualifying that same lead inside that same five-minute window, in the same dataset.

42 hrs

the average time a business took to respond to a web enquiry, among those that replied at all within 30 days, in an audit of 2,241 US companies. By then, most leads have moved on.

The first two figures come from one study with one commercial sponsor, and they are odds rather than plain likelihood. We quote them as what they are. The 42-hour figure is from the separate audit above, and describes how long businesses take rather than how quickly we answer.

Does it sound like a person?

Listen to Olivia book a battery quote.

Jess asked for a quote at 9:14 pm on a weeknight in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is the call she'd get about five seconds later. The notes in the margin are what to listen for.

O Olivia · AI

Hi, is that Jess? It's Olivia from Harbour Solar. I'm an AI assistant, and I'm calling because you just asked us for a battery quote. Is now an okay time for a couple of quick questions?

Says it is an AI in the first sentence. On every call, and the customer cannot switch it off.

J Jess

Oh, that was fast. Yeah, go for it.

O Olivia · AI 0.85 s

Great. Do you already have panels on the roof, or would this be panels and a battery together?

The questions are yours. You write them in plain words, or paste your website and let it draft them.

J Jess

We've got panels. About six kilowatts, put in maybe five years ago.

O Olivia · AI 0.90 s

Perfect, a battery on an existing six kilowatt system is really common. Roughly what's your energy bill each

J Jess

Sorry, quick one first. Do you handle the paperwork with the grid, or is that on us?

Jess talks over Olivia. Olivia stops within a tenth of a second and listens, because the interruption is decided in London, close to the caller, not in a data centre far away.

O Olivia · AI 0.80 s

We handle all of it. The grid application and the certificates, so there's nothing for you to file. And that monthly bill?

Answers from the notes you gave it, then goes back to the question it was asking.

J Jess

About a hundred and eighty.

O Olivia · AI 0.95 s

Okay, that points to a ten to thirteen kilowatt hour battery. The next step is a fifteen minute call with Dan, who'll look at your roof on satellite and give you a firm price. I've got Tuesday at ten thirty in the morning, or Wednesday at four. Does either suit?

Real slots from your calendar, fetched before the call so there is no pause here.

J Jess

Tuesday morning's good.

O Olivia · AI 0.80 s

Done. Tuesday at ten thirty with Dan. I've just texted you the details. Thanks Jess, enjoy your night.

Booked in your calendar, confirmation by text, and the lead is marked hot in your CRM with everything Jess said.

J Jess

Great, thanks. Bye.

Why does it feel like a person?

The pause is the tell.

Most AI callers run in the United States. From a UK mobile, every reply arrives late, and the caller starts talking over it.

Bludge listens in London. The decision about when you've finished speaking, and when to stop because you've interrupted, is made here. Replies land in about a second, and it stops within a tenth of one.

Reply times are design targets, from the end of your sentence to the start of the reply, on a UK mobile. The US-hosted figure is an estimate from the transatlantic round trip. We publish measured figures as UK pilots run.

What does it actually do?

Every call, the same seven things.

  • Says it's an AI, first sentence.

Every call opens with the disclosure. It isn't a setting, and it can't be talked around.

  • Qualifies them with your questions.

Write them in plain words, or paste your website and let it draft them for you. When it hangs up, the lead is marked hot, warm or cold, with a two-line summary and the transcript.

  • Answers from your notes.

Prices, rebates, lead times, service area. If it doesn't know, it says so and offers a callback.

  • Books into your calendar.

Live slots from Calendly, HubSpot, Zoho or SavvyCal, then a confirmation by text.

  • Knows when to step aside.

Ask for a person and it stops asking questions, takes the details, and tells your team to call back.

  • Tries again if nobody answers.

One more call inside calling hours, then a text from your business name.

  • Answers the phone when you can't.

Calls to your number get the same voice, the same questions and the same disclosure, whether you're on a roof or it's nine at night.

Can I hear it call me?

Get a call from it, right now.

Type your mobile number. Olivia will ring you within a few seconds, introduce herself as an AI, and take you through the same short call your leads would get.

  • About two minutes, and you can hang up whenever you like.
  • Nothing to install and no account to make.
  • Interrupt her. That's the point.

Call me now

One call, about two minutes. Olivia introduces herself as an AI and takes you through the same call your leads would get.

You'll get one automated call at this number, and nothing else unless you ask.
