Bludge

For SaaS founders and lean sales teams

More calls should not mean more wasted demos.

You need to know who is buying, what they need and whether your software fits. Bludge answers your business calls and asks the questions you choose. Your team gets the details before it gives up a slot in the diary.

  • Says it’s an AI in the first sentence of every call.
  • You set the rules, and can change them any time.

One customer needs your help. Another is trying to reach you.

It is Tuesday afternoon. You are on a call with a new customer, helping them get started. Halfway through, your sales phone rings.

You stay with the person you are helping. The other call goes to voicemail.

The caller runs a small agency. Her team has outgrown its old software. She has read your site, but wants to check one thing before booking a demo: can she bring her client list across?

She does not leave a message. She calls the next company on her list. They ask about her team and agree on a time to talk.

You ring back after your last meeting. She has already booked that other demo. You might still be a fit, but now you have to earn her attention again.

Being busy is good. Being hard to reach can cost you a conversation.

Your product, your site and a good word from a customer can bring people to you. But when someone calls, they still need a clear next step.

A missed number tells you very little. Is it a buyer with a real need? Someone on the wrong plan? An existing customer who needs support? You have to call back just to find out.

Bludge answers and asks. You get the details to make a choice, while the caller gets a clear next step.

Enough leads already? Give your team better reasons to meet.

A full demo calendar can hide a lot of poor fit. One caller needs a feature you do not have. Another has one user when you serve larger teams. A third needs support, not a sales pitch.

Tell Bludge who your product helps and what to ask. Team size. The problem to solve. The tools they use now. When they want to start. Your team uses those answers to choose the next step.

The aim is a useful handover. Fewer calls spent finding out why someone is there. More room for buyers your team can help.

Keep helping the customer in front of you. Find out what the next caller needs.

“Why not just let it go to voicemail?”

You can. But a beep cannot explain a plan or ask whether someone needs sales or support. Here is what to weigh up.

Voicemail

It can save a message. It cannot answer “Does your plan cover our team?” or ask what the buyer wants to change. If they leave no message, you still have only a number.

An answering service

A person can answer for you, take messages and, with some services, book times or put calls through. Check which tasks the price covers and what you pay as calls grow.

A UK answering provider: from £25 a month. Moneypenny's advertised UK AI receptionist price, gathered 9 September 2026. Usage, human receptionists and tailored packages are quoted separately, so this is a starting price rather than a bill. The published rate card.

Hiring someone

A good receptionist can take calls and help run the office. If you have enough work for a new team member, that may be a good fit. You also need cover for breaks, leave and calls after hours.

Answering it yourself

You know your product. But each call pulls you out of a demo, a support task or focused work. Your team should not have to stop just to find out what a call is about.

With Bludge, you choose the product facts, the questions it asks and when to put a call through. It handles the call using those rules.

Same busy afternoon. A clearer next step.

This time, Bludge answers your sales line. It says it is an AI answering for your business, then asks what the caller needs.

You have supplied a clear answer about importing a client list. Bludge shares that answer and asks the questions you chose: how many people need the tool, what they use now and when they want to change.

It takes her name, company and contact details. It explains when your team can call back. It does not promise a custom import or a feature you have not approved.

When your meeting ends, the call notes give you a starting point. You can see the team size, the need and the question that matters most. Your callback can focus on whether the product fits.

The sale is still yours to make. The first call has given your team something useful to work with.

This is a made-up example with your questions and callback hours set. It shows how a call could go, not a real customer result.

Your calls. Your rules. Useful details to act on.

You do not need a longer list of names to chase. You need enough context to make the next call useful. Here is how Bludge helps.

  1. Keep the call moving.

Bludge starts to get a reply ready while the caller speaks. It can use an answer you have approved, or give a brief “mm-hm” while it works on a new one.

    See the phone test result

In one US phone test, the median time to the first spoken response was 0.59 seconds across eight calls. That first response may be an acknowledgement. This is a test result, not a promise for every call.

    Read the timing tests

  2. Give callers your answers.

Supply your plan details, product facts and approved prices. Bludge uses them to answer common questions. Saved answers, called Ready Replies, use the same voice as new replies.

  3. Find out if the buyer fits.

Ask about team size, the problem to solve and when they want to start. A team ready to switch and a caller who needs an unsupported feature need different next steps. You set the questions; your team makes the call.

  4. Know what happened without chasing the story.

See who called, what they need and what they were told. Read the notes before you ring back, so you can start with their goal instead of “What was this about?”

Bludge can recognise someone who has called before. It checks who they are before using past call details. This is on by default, and you can switch it off.

  5. Answer a new question once. Use it again.

Review the draft reply to a new question, change it if needed and approve it. Bludge can use that answer next time. You choose what gets saved.

Start the next conversation with context, not “What was this about?”

Put it through the calls you get.

This sample uses AI voices and a made-up design studio. It shows the steps: answer, ask about the job, check the calendar and agree on a time. It makes no real booking.

Listen first. Then try it with your own business details and ask the questions you hear each week.

“Will this work for our team?” Try a buyer your product suits, then one it does not. Does it stick to the product facts you gave it?

“How much will it cost?” Ask for a discount or a custom plan you have not approved. Does it leave that decision with your team?

“Sorry, I meant fifty users, not fifteen.” Change a detail. Does it listen and check the new one?

These are the calls it needs to handle for you. Hear the answers before you decide.

You’re busy. Bludge takes the next call.

“Sounds useful. But what about my business?”

“My customers will hang up on a robot.”

Some callers may want a person. Bludge says it’s AI, then gets on with helping. You choose when it should put someone through or take a message.

We do not yet have enough real customer calls to say how often people hang up. Start by hearing it yourself, then try the questions your callers ask.

“What if it promises something I can’t deliver?”

You supply the plan details, product limits and supported connections. Bludge uses those facts and is told to say when it does not know. Leave feature promises, discounts and contract terms with your team.

The price rule is on from the start. Bludge is told to quote only prices you have supplied. A custom plan or discount needs your team’s answer.

AI can make mistakes. Try the questions your customers ask before it goes live, and keep key decisions with your team.

“What if an existing customer needs support?”

Set questions that separate a sales call from a support request. Bludge can take the problem and contact details, share your approved support steps and follow your transfer rules. It does not need the caller’s password.

You choose which numbers to try. A team member hears who is calling and can accept the call. If no one picks up, Bludge tells the caller it could not reach anyone and takes a message.

Transfers follow the hours you set. Outside those hours, Bludge takes a message and explains your support route. It cannot fix an outage or promise when your team will resolve a problem.

“We already have a demo form.”

Keep it. Some buyers still want to ask a question before they book. Bludge can answer those calls and take the details. Your team can then decide if a demo is the right next step.

A weekly email links to questions that need a new prepared reply. You can check and approve the answers. If there are no new questions, no email is sent.

“I haven’t got an afternoon to set it up.”

Start with your website. Bludge makes a draft for you to check. Then hear the greeting, choose a number and try a call. We check the phone setup and call rules with you before it goes live.

You can save your progress and come back later.

“Will it understand my callers?”

Add your product names, plan names and the terms your customers use. A poor line or loud noise can still make speech hard to follow. Check key details in the call record before you act on them.

“What if something goes wrong? And where does the audio go?”

If you use up your plan, new calls go to the backup route agreed at setup. Nothing extra is charged unless you approve it. AI calls stop at five minutes unless you approve more. A long call cannot quietly run up a bill.

Read our privacy notice to see who handles call data, where they handle it and how long it is kept.

Hear it handle your questions before it takes your calls.

Start with your website, then check the draft. Try a buyer you can help, one outside your rules and a question about price. Hear the answers before you put it on your sales line.
